Rev. Ed Smelser – USA Regional Director
Rev. Ed Smelser is a USA Regional Director for Bridges for Peace, serving the Western USA, Hawaii and Alaska.
Rev. Smelser pastored in the United States for 30 years, in Washington State, Oregon and Ohio. In September 1992 he made his first trip to Israel and has returned 52 times for Pastoral Studies, to participate in the Jewish High Holy Days in Israel and to lead "Pilgrim" and study tours.
Pastor Ed, to those who know him, has served on the faculty in two Bible Colleges, has hosted his own radio program, and has been a TV guest. He speaks in churches of all denominations, as well as to the Reformed and Conservative Jewish communities. He is a frequent guest on radio for "Americans for a Safe Israel" (AFSI) and other talk radio shows.
He has traveled as a spokesman for Israel in the USA and Israel for the past 14 years. He continues to travel frequently to Israel and takes tour groups to Israel annually.
He and his wife, Bonnie, lived in Israel for 4 1/2 years on assignment as the Chaplain of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. His knowledge of the land, the culture, and people gives him excellent teaching insights and touring contacts.
