COMFORT
MY PEOPLE
An innovative blend of music, dance, and speakers will occur on
Sunday, November 13, at 6:00 PM at Temple Shalom, 287 Lafayette
Street in Salem, Massachusetts when Jews and Christians celebrate
the sixth “Comfort My People” event. Previous programs
in this series have built bridges of friendship between the Jewish
and Christian communities, raised awareness about Israel’s
situation, and inspired solidarity with her quest for peace.
Hosted by Temple Shalom’s Rabbi Lee Levin, guest speakers
will include Mr. Larry Grodman, President of American Friends of
LIBI (aiding Israeli soldiers), and Rev. Bill Adams, of Bridges
for Peace International (a Christian humanitarian organization based
in Jerusalem). Energetic, Jewish-style music will be provided
by a seven-piece band from Christian Renewal Church and Iglesia
Pentecostal Nazaret in Salem, plus special guest soloist Allison
Shapira, an officer of the Consulate General of Israel to New England.
Admission is free, with refreshments served afterwards allowing
time to mingle. Donations will be collected to benefit charities
in Israel.
Reservations are accepted at www.comfortmypeople.org
and 978-374-6429.
People of all faiths are encouraged to attend.
This event is dedicated to the work done by Simon Wiesenthal, who
died September 2005.
